New town homes give students cool housing option

When Heidelberg University upperclassmen returned for the new academic year on Saturday and Sunday, they had an exciting new option for their campus residential living.

Earlier this month, Heidelberg completed construction of the Main Street Town Homes, located at the intersection of Main and Hedges streets, on the south side of the campus.

After more than a year of strategic discussions by senior leadership, followed by a thorough review process involving faculty and recommendations made by faculty members and senior leadership, the Heidelberg University Board of Trustees has approved recommendations for the new Educational Programming Strategy and Strategic Academic Programs Prioritization plan. 

The plan includes the sunsetting of eleven majors, five minors and two graduate programs.

Although it didn’t get its traditional unveiling, the Class of ‘20 banner is ready to take its rightful place in Heidelberg’s history. A group of 14 now-graduates from the Class of ’20 combined their talents to plan the design of the banner before COVID-19 interrupted their final semester.

COVID-19 also caused the cancellation of graduation, so the class didn’t have the traditional opportunity to present their banner to President Huntington at commencement rehearsal and then debut it during the procession down Greenfield Street back in May.

Heidelberg marketing professor Dr. Salil Khetani and a counterpart in India have had an article published in the mainstream Indian newspaper The Hindu Business Line. The article addresses how to overcome mask reactance.

Salil and his co-author, Anuj Kapoor, explain that reactance occurs when we feel our freedom is being suppressed by an authority and to reassert our freedom, we act in the opposite direction to what the authority dictates.
