Brittanie Ulmer named OAC Player of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Highlighted by a near record-breaking performance, Heidelberg University women's basketball player Brittanie Ulmer was selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference's Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. 

The award is the first for the senior from Lima, Ohio, and the program's first since Alyssa Riley won the award on February 4, 2018.

With the 2010s drawing to a close, Heidelberg Athletics is taking a look back at a transformative decade. In the past 10 years, we have added a stadium, added lacrosse, replaced a track, completely renovated the gym, built a softball field, said farewell to the Tin Gym, and celebrated 19 OAC team titles and two individual national titles.

37 student-athletes earn Fall Academic All-OAC

On Tuesday morning, the Ohio Athletic Conference announced the Fall, 2019 Academic All-OAC selections. Included on that list were the names of 37 student-athletes from Heidelberg University. 

To be eligible for Academic All-OAC status, a student must be of sophomore class standing or higher, maintain varsity status, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50.

Of the 37 students recognized, 14 belonged to the women's soccer program, seven to volleyball, seven to football, six to men's soccer, two to men's cross country, and one to women's cross country.

Heidelberg honored one of its most iconic families and a dear friend with the dedication of H’s Track on Saturday.

The new dual-tone track, which encircles the new turf completed a year ago, is named to honor the late Theodore “Ted” Hieronymus, ’65, a major benefactor and Trustee whose generosity through the years to ensure the future of his alma mater is nearly unequalled. It was the giving of Ted and his wife, Jane (Hoernemann) Hieronymus, ’64, that provided funding for the completion of the turf and track restoration project.

OBERLIN, Ohio -- A school-record performance by Austin Neura led the Heidelberg University to a 15th-place finish at the 39-team Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday.  Heidelberg outperformed several regionally-ranked opponents.

Neura finished third overall -- 9.6 seconds off the lead.  His time of 24:45.6 essentially ties the Heidelberg 8K record, held by Adam Koppin.  Koppin's time from 1997 is listed as 24:45.00 in the school annals.
