The Patricia Adams Lecture Series, which featured former First Lady Laura Bush and her daughter, Barbara Pierce Bush, was the ultimate celebration of 10 years of inspiration, encouragement and advice that PALS has brought to Heidelberg students and the community.

For Pat Adams, who with her husband, John, ’58, envisioned, created and funded PALS back in 2009, Wednesday’s events were everything she had hoped – and so much more.

On the day before the highest profile speakers in The Patricia Adams Lecture Series are set to visit Heidelberg, Patricia Adams is like a doting grandmother about her namesake series. The campus community shares her excitement as we get ready to host former First Lady Laura Bush and her daughter, Barbara Pierce Bush, on Wednesday.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of PALS, Pat reflected with a heart full of gratitude about everything the series has accomplished.

When you’re the grandson of four Holocaust survivors, the weight of that legacy could overwhelm you. Or, it could motivate you to action to help put an end to human atrocities. David Estrin, whose grandfather, Jimmy Lichtman, is the namesake of Heidelberg’s annual Lichtman-Behm Genocide Lecture Series, was the keynote speaker for the series on Tuesday.

Dr. Jeff Bricker, ’79, says he owes a great deal of his career achievements as a research scientist to the excellent foundation he received at Heidelberg from iconic professors such as Mel Casler, Dr. Ray Wise, Dr. Richard Cordell, the late Dr. Martin Reno and the late Dr. John Groce.
