DELAWARE, Ohio -- With a 3-1 win on Tuesday, the Heidelberg University volleyball team improved to 8-0 on the season -- matching the best start in program history. The Student Princes defeated host Ohio Wesleyan by a score of 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18. The 2006 team, led by All-Americans Morgan Magers and Emily Hurlburt, also started 8-0.

Heidelberg University is ranked among the top colleges and universities in two categories in U.S. News & World Report’s annual national survey. In the rankings released today, Heidelberg is listed No. 18 in the top tier among best regional colleges in the Midwest and No. 8 on the list of “best value” schools regionally. Placement on the “best value” list confirms that Heidelberg provides a high-quality education at an affordable price. The list considers the percentage of need-based financial aid and the average cost after financial aid is awarded.

The campuses of Heidelberg and Tiffin University are a virtual melting pot, hosting a combined 250 international students this academic year. Thursday night, the students – along with administrators and staff from both universities and community representatives – gathered in downtown Tiffin for the “Tiffin Welcomes the World” event.
Presidents Rob Huntington and Lillian Schumacher were among those on hand to meet the international students.

A recent survey from Backgroundchecks.org indicates that the city of Tiffin is among the Top 100 Safest Cities in Ohio. In a news release, it’s been revealed that Tiffin ranks No. 16 on the list, based on FBI crime statistics and law enforcement employment numbers per 1,000 residents.
As a long-time partner in community affairs with a shared goal of safety for all, Heidelberg is pleased with this news because it means students and all members of the campus community live and work in a safe place.

Following his graduation from Heidelberg in 1963, Ernest Estep headed for The Ohio State University College of Medicine. M.D. degree in hand four years later, he ultimately returned to the Akron area to begin what would become a distinguished career as an obstetrician and gynecologist.
Now retired from Summa Health, Ernie was recently recognized not only for his career accomplishments but for a lifetime of achievement far beyond his medical practice.
