First-generation college senior Enya Granados arrived at Heidelberg with the perfect mindset: Say yes to as many new experiences as possible. She’s graduating with a phenomenal academic record, a pocketful of awards for her research and a legacy of advocacy for diversity on campus.
She’s made a name for herself off campus, too, completing summer research internships at two major universities and landing a prestigious fellowship as she launches into her teaching career.

Four years later, Dr. Bryan Smith, and his daughter, Payge, returned to the Legacy Tower Plaza together.
Heidelberg is proud to boast hundreds of legacy families throughout the years. In order to be considered a “legacy,” a family must have at least two generations of Heidelberg students. The family ties at Heidelberg did not start with Payge or Bryan. “My mom worked in the (now) Stoner Health, Counseling and Disabilities Center,” Bryan says, “which obviously drew me to the school and campus.”

What does success mean?
“I think it means living life to the fullest, but not in the way some people understand that phrase,” says Tiffin native Kory Wise.
“For me, it’s doing what you were meant to do and doing it to the best of your ability.”
As a double major in religion and English, Kory engaged in a genuine liberal arts experience at Heidelberg. He chose his majors not because they fit in a linear career path, but because he was engaged with the subject matter.

After this Sunday’s commencement, Kelsey Griffin can say she has two Heidelberg degrees, and she earned them both in four years.
“I wanted more out of my college experience,” she says.
Kelsey found Heidelberg because she was looking for someplace different. While all her friends were picking state schools in Michigan, Kelsey decided to choose a different path. She wanted a place where she could do more, be more and accomplish more.
“I fell in love with the fit and family feel of Heidelberg,” she says. “It was so welcoming.”

Just like more than 2,100 alumni couples, graduating seniors Teddy and Haley (Schreiner) Berger found their happily ever after at Heidelberg. They just sealed the deal sooner than most.
The stars collided for Teddy, who is from Topeka, Indiana, and Haley, who from Bascom, Ohio, when they pursued their love for music and theatre as Heidelberg freshmen.
