The dynamic father-daughter duo of Dave and Allison Krebs did a great job expressing the value of their Heidelberg experiences, although in different generations, at the annual Families & Fellows dinner on Saturday.
“I found Heidelberg through the love of my parents,” said Allison, who told the crowd of about 300 ‘Berg students and families and about 100 members of the Fellows Organization that her parents, Dave and Kim, met at Heidelberg.

On a day when he’d usually sit behind the bench to hear common pleas cases, Judge Steve Shuff took on a second role this morning: professor.
As he does every fall, Judge Shuff, a ’75 ‘Berg grad, brought his Seneca County Common Pleas Court to campus in recognition of Constitution Day. Students, faculty and staff gathered in Herbster Chapel to witness actual court hearings over which the judge presided.

Unlucky does not mean improbable.
If you examine the history of The Onion and the life of its co-creator, Scott Dikkers, those words ring true. Dikkers came to Heidelberg on Thursday to kick off the fourth year of the HYPE Career Ready® program as the keynote speaker.
In 1988, Dikkers launched The Onion, the original “fake news” platform that has grown into one of today’s most recognized satirical comedy brands. The back story: The Onion “started out as a joke but has become the most trusted news source in America,” he joked.

Many of us have vivid memories of where we were and what we were doing at the moment we heard the news of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Yet, today’s college students were very young and have learned about the attacks from other accounts.
This morning, on the 18th anniversary of the attacks, a small group of students, staff and faculty came together to remember the victims and to pray for peace. The brief service was led by Chaplain Paul Sittason Stark.

As is the case with many families, traditions are endearing and everlasting. A total of 362 new students are now officially members of the Heidelberg family.
Thursday’s Opening Convocation was steeped in Heidelberg traditions, handed down from class to class and generation to generation. The first-year and transfer students experienced T-Bridge, beanies, “H” pins and Sweet Alma Home for the first time.
