This is a big week for 21 senior Honors students who will be graduating in about three weeks. Today through Thursday, four years of study as part of Heidelberg’s Life of the Mind Honors Program will come together for the students. Each one worked with a faculty mentor for their capstone Honors course on a project to deepen their understanding of a topic of compelling interest in their major. The presentations, which also include a written component, are the culmination of their research and study.

April is National Donate Life Month, a time for all Americans to celebrate the generosity of those who have saved lives by becoming organ, eye and tissue donors. That hits home for young alumna Hannah Griffith, ’18, and her family.
When Hannah was a sophomore at Heidelberg, her dad received a new heart. Lifeline of Ohio was the organization that helped to facilitate the transplant. She could not have known at the time that she would find a permanent professional home with the organization.

Anonymous donors have created an endowment fund that will positively impact every Heidelberg University student, ultimately making them successful in their careers and lives. The lead gift to establish the endowment recognizes the generous and loyal support of alumni John M. and Marcene W. Busch to their alma mater.

The Ohio Department of Higher Education has awarded Heidelberg University a grant of $450,450 through its Choose Ohio First initiative. Through this collaborative program, the ODHE hopes to provide substantive improvements to the pipeline of STEMM graduates and STEMM educators across the state.
