Heidelberg hosted the inaugural induction ceremony Wednesday for the Tri-Alpha National Honors Society. This new honor society recognizes and celebrates the academic achievements of first-generation college students.
The ceremony represents over a year of work for advisor Barry Devine, assistant professor of English and first-generation student himself.
“I’m really excited it’s finally happening,” he said. “I’m happy to be able to welcome everyone the way they should be into this honor society.”

Every Thursday at 1 o’clock, eight Heidelberg students click into a very different kind of Zoom meeting. They connect with juveniles incarcerated at the Seneca County Youth Center and together, they write.
Through the Writers in Residence program, the youth find their voice through artistic expression and constructive self-expression. This is the second semester Heidelberg students have volunteered to serve as mentors in the program, guided by criminology professor Dr. Sarah Lazzari.

Heidelberg’s Health Science program – one of the fastest growing and most popular -- has landed near the top of Learn.org’s rankings of the 50 Best Health Science Degrees for the current academic year. The rankings, which place Heidelberg at No. 3, are a tool that helps students research schools, degrees and careers and find out if Heidelberg is an ideal fit for them.

They may be “zoomed out,” but a highly engaged group of alumni, current students and faculty took time to gather Thursday night in a Young Alumni Zoom Happy Hour, hosted by the Office of Alumni Engagement.
The Zoom gathering was the first in a series featuring different ‘Berg academic departments; this one highlighted faculty from communication and political science.
