Communication can be a powerful thing, on many different levels. That was one of the takeaways from a pair of internships senior psychology and accounting major David Haines completed this summer through The Fund for American Studies and the The Reagan Institute, as well as the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

But perhaps the biggest joy was an op-ed piece David had published as a guest columnist in The Columbus Dispatch, advocating for full health care for every American especially during this time of pandemic-related job loss.

In the rankings released Monday, Heidelberg is listed No. 21 in the top tier among best regional colleges in the Midwest and No. 8 on the list of “best value” schools regionally. “It adds so much to the ‘Berg experience, giving us something to look forward to outside of the classroom and another reason to return back to campus,” says junior Noah Kennard.

Noah is actively involved in Greek Life, Student Senate, Chem Club, BEC, men’s tennis and as an Orientation leader in the summer.

Although it’s one of Heidelberg’s many long-standing traditions, this fall’s Opening Convocation – the official beginning of the 2020-21 academic year – was like no other in history.

Like so many other events during the pandemic, Convocation shifted to virtual, presented to incoming students during their AIM Hei classes this morning and simultaneously during “watch parties” in Wickham Great Hall and Herbster Chapel.
