Like many of his peers, senior Colin Higgins knows “far too many people” who have been victimized by sexual violence. He and two classmates decided the time was right to do something about it. So the week of April 10 has been designated Rape and Sexual Assault Awareness Week on campus.
With Heidelberg’s launch of the It’s On Us campaign this semester, Colin has organized a series of events around the theme. The idea became his Senior Honors Project.

John Buccigross, one of Heidelberg University’s most distinguished alumni, will return to campus to deliver the 2017 commencement address, President Robert H. Huntington has announced. Buccigross, co-host of ESPN’s SportsCenter nightly telecast, will speak to the graduates, their families and friends and the Heidelberg community on Sunday, May 14, in Hoernemann Stadium.
Baccalaureate services will be held Saturday, May 13, and will feature a sermon by the Rev. John Dorhauer, the ninth General Minister and president of the United Church of Christ.

Locally, and now nationally, Jordan Hux ‘16 has made her mark on the world of CrossFit.
Competing against nearly 40 other teams, Jordan and her team, The Replacements, took home first place in the CrossFit Endeavor 6 Person Co-ed Competition at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus.

Three short years after she graduated from Heidelberg, Lauren Stainbrook is exactly where she wants to be.
“I can precisely remember so many long nights in the labs in Bareis Hall, wondering if I would ever accomplished all I hoped I would,” says Lauren, who returned to Heidelberg Monday to speak to current students about “Life After Finals.”

Five Heidelberg students found generosity and kindness in the world on their chaotic trip back from spring break.
Kaylea Bowers, Quinn Kantner, Justine Liddle, Kiera Malone and Emily Nolting drove to Naples, Florida, together during spring break.
“Everything was going just fine and dandy,” Quinn started to recount before she was interrupted by Emily. “Everything was not fine and dandy,” explaining the girls’ last day. Everyone decided to stay an extra day in Florida where things began to take a bad turn.
