Sport Management Major Requirements

The field of sport management encompasses vast avenues of career directions in the industry of sport. Careers as directors, facility managers, promoters, information directors, fitness directors, marketers, and administrators have been developing in the area of sport management. Demand for trained individuals can lead to employment with professional sports organizations, colleges, universities, private clubs, city recreation departments, retail sales, government programs, and YMCA.

Major in Sport Management

Required:

•  ESS 211: History of Sport and Fitness
•  ESS 203: Coaching Techniques or 2 hours from ESS 204-209: Teaching of Sports
•  ESS 230: Introduction to Sport Management
•  ESS 302: Administration and Organization of Physical Education
•  ESS 303: Facility and Event Management
•  ESS 315: Legal Aspects of Sport
•  ESS 316: Sport and Society
•  ESS 490: Senior Capstone Experience

All Sport Management majors must complete one of the following concentrations in addition to the above core.
