France Residence Hall has been home to undergraduate Heidelberg women for the past 92 years. However, the France Hall of today no longer meets the needs of contemporary college women. Yet, we appreciate the importance of preserving its heritage.
A campaign is underway to raise $7.5 million to restore and renovate France Hall. When complete (projected: 2019), France will be transformed into an exciting and attractive facility for the campus and the community. The new France will offer innovative living, learning and leadership opportunities for women residents while also supporting academic programs. It will incorporate office space for campus women’s leadership initiatives; a home for all five women’s Greek organizations; and residential living space for female faculty members, who would serve as mentors and role models for residents.
Why this campaign matters
“Had the France Hall faculty apartment been available at the time I accepted the faculty position at Heidelberg, I would have absolutely taken advantage. This … would have given me the opportunity to engage with students on a different level.”
