Above is the conceptual design for Heidelberg's new turf field and track.
The Hoernemann Stadium complex is without question the busiest facility on Heidelberg’s campus, serving as the home for athletic practices and game competition, Marching Band rehearsal, student events, major university events (think Commencement) and community recreational use. With such high-traffic volume, both the 20-year-old track and the 10-year-old turf have outlived their life expectancies and need to be replaced.
Just about everyone at Heidelberg is impacted by this facility. One year ago, we completed a major renovation of Seiberling Gymnasium. Since then, the response and game-day atmosphere have been tremendous and the impact on athletic recruiting has been amazing. Our challenge is to raise $1.1 million to replace the worn turf and deteriorating track in time for the 2018 fall athletic seasons. The new turf and track open up opportunities to host conference and NCAA meets, and support a variety of other track and field events as well as other educational and fun events for the Tiffin community.
WHY THIS CAMPAIGN MATTERS
“We are very grateful for the support of Heidelberg’s administration and their vision in recognizing the need to upgrade our facilities. Last year’s Seiberling Gymnasium renovation was just incredible. This next step for our most utilized facility on campus makes a huge statement for our student-athletes, alumni and recruits.”
