Heidelberg University is seeking two (2) dynamic individuals to fill the immediate need for two (2) Assistant Professors of Graduate Counseling. The positions are in the School of Education and Counseling, one of the four schools recently implemented within the new organizational structure of Academic Affairs. This is a multi-year position with the possibility of multiple year extensions. The Assistant Professor of Graduate Counseling reports directly to the Program Director of the Graduate Studies in Counseling.
The Assistant Professor of Graduate Counseling provides instruction and advising to graduate students. This faculty appointment includes a full-time teaching load in addition to office hours, advising, committee work, research and opportunities for continued professional development. This is a multi-year position with the possibility of multiple year extensions. The Assistant Professor of Graduate Counseling reports directly to the Program Director of the Graduate Studies in Counseling.
The successful candidates will have demonstrated experience, qualifications and abilities, including:
- Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, from a CACREP-accredited program (ABD considered) or have evidence of full time faculty membership in counselor education program and currently active member of a professional counseling organization (ACA or its affiliates). Credentials must adhere to those espoused by current CACREP standards.
- Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to student centered active learning and student engagement activities.
- Willingness to participate and engage in responsibilities, campus efforts and activities during the day, evenings, and /or weekends at both on-campus and off-campus in order to be part of a community that supports education excellence and student success.
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and appreciation for a liberal arts tradition.
- Commitment and a demonstrated record of academic excellence with professional and personal integrity.
- Current clinical and/or school license in the state of Ohio or immediately license eligible in state of Ohio; some clinical experience preferred.
- Knowledge of current technology and methods for producing and disseminating hybrid and online courses.
- Identification with the counseling profession through activities, service, scholarship, advocacy and research.
- Understanding of CACREP Standards of Practice for graduate counseling programs.
- Ability to advise graduate students through the program and licensure.
- Ability to teach clinical and school counseling courses using a myriad of pedagogical methods.
- Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work well under deadline pressure, balance multiple priority tasks, and perform well in both independent and cooperative situations
- Commitment to grant exploration, grant writing, and participation in grants housed in the Counseling Program.
- A demonstrated work ethic that promotes teamwork, enhances creativity and motivation, and builds consensus in a high-energy and high-task environment.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
