About

Dr. Brandon Van Ness earned his B.S. in chemistry from Miami University of Ohio, his M.S. in chemistry from Wright State University, and his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Dr. Van Ness’s graduate research has been focused on developing a synthetic pathway to product the natural products for future structure-activity-relationship students. Upon starting his career at Morehead State University, Dr. Van Ness’s broadened his research interests beyond natural product synthesis to include monitoring pharmaceutical products in water sources and determining the physiochemical properties of locally harvested honey.

Dr. Van Ness uses active learning in his chemistry classrooms and implements a variety of teaching strategies, including POGIL, to provide an engaging teaching experience that is focused on the student success.
