Heidelberg to celebrate Class of ’20 with Aug. 29 Commencement

May 19, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic may have forced us to cancel our traditional Commencement ceremony on Sunday, but we’re not about to let the accomplishments of the Class of ’20 go unrecognized. On Saturday, August 29, we are planning to hold an in-person Commencement to celebrate the class and officially welcome them into the Heidelberg alumni family.

By announcing the date now, students, their families, friends and special guests will have time to make plans to attend the celebration on campus.

On Saturday, May 16th, and Sunday, May 17th, please visit Heidelberg’s website and check social media for the following Heidelberg greetings:

Like many of Heidelberg’s student organizations, the Greek groups and their executive board have stayed connect with each other with virtual weekly meetings. A big challenge came to life this week when all 10 Greek groups participated in the traditional Greek Week activities – this year on social media.

For five years now, a contingent from Heidelberg has participated in the #TogetherWeRemember Reading of Names event as an outreach of the university’s Lichtman-Behm Genocide Lecture Series. In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, hosting the event presented some logistical challenges, but that did not prevent Heidelberg from pausing and remembering the victims of genocide on Monday.
