The Penguin Tango

“The Penguin Tango,” an original play written by Heidelberg University Theatre Director Stephen Svoboda, tackles gay relationships and the meaning of true family in the zany world of the Bremerhaven Zoo. Prior to its international premier at Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer, 1850 Productions is bringing the show to Gundlach Theatre for a single preview performance April 27.

Children's Time: Faculty Voice Recital with Carol Dusdieker and Cynthia Ramsdell

We’re all familiar with the famous Longfellow quote, “Music is the universal language.” On April 6, Heidelberg University School of Music & Theatre professors Carol Dusdieker (soprano) and Cynthia Ramsdell (piano) will embellish the quote to “Music is the universal language for all ages” in their Children’s Concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in Brenneman Music Hall.

From Broadway to the TV screen, enjoy a concert featuring selections from the songbook of actor, composer and lyricist Jeff Blumenkrantz.

Jeff Blumenkrantz is a Tony-nominated and Ebb Award-winning composer whose songs have been recorded and performed by such notable singers as Victoria Clark, Sutton Foster, Maria Friedman, Lauren Kennedy, Rebecca Luker, Audra McDonald, Megan Mullally and Alysha Umphress.

Faculty Recital: Margarita Denenburg

A piano recital by Heidelberg University’s Dr. Margarita Denenburg on Saturday will combine a joyous Mozart sonata, a nostalgic Chopin nocturne and a contemporary nod to Cleveland by Ohio composer Dr. Gerald Evans.

Denenburg, assistant professor of keyboard studies in the School of Music & Theatre, will perform the recital at 7 p.m. (Feb. 16) in Brenneman Music Hall. The community is invited, free of charge.
