New Music Live: “Langston’s Lot” with Doug McConnell and Friends will reunite the Heidelberg University music professor and composer with former colleagues in an upcoming concert featuring the poetry of Hughes and his portrayals of black life in America.

Jeff Blumenkrantz is a Tony-nominated and Ebb Award-winning composer whose songs have been recorded and performed by such notable singers as Victoria Clark, Sutton Foster, Maria Friedman, Lauren Kennedy, Rebecca Luker, Audra McDonald, Megan Mullally and Alysha Umphress.

A piano recital by Heidelberg University’s Dr. Margarita Denenburg on Saturday will combine a joyous Mozart sonata, a nostalgic Chopin nocturne and a contemporary nod to Cleveland by Ohio composer Dr. Gerald Evans.
Denenburg, assistant professor of keyboard studies in the School of Music & Theatre, will perform the recital at 7 p.m. (Feb. 16) in Brenneman Music Hall. The community is invited, free of charge.

Join us on January 19 for a day dedicated to empowering your vocal auditions. Participants will perform mock auditions and receive feedback from School of Music and Theatre faculty, have a private voice lesson on their musical selection and attend afternoon workshops on a broad variety of topics.
