Human Rights Advocate and Author of Unlikely Brothers. John Prendergast is a human rights activist and best-selling author who has worked for peace in Africa for nearly thirty years. He is the co-founder of the Enough Project, an initiative to end genocide and crimes against humanity affiliated with the Center for American Progress. Prendergast has worked for the Clinton White House, the State Department, two members of Congress, the National Intelligence Council, UNICEF, Human Rights Watch, the International Crisis Group, and the U.S.

HYPE Day: Captain James Lovell

James Lovell was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 25, 1928. In his senior year in high school he was accepted in the Naval Aviation Holloway Plan and after two years at the University of Wisconsin, reported for flight training at Pensacola. During preflight training he received an appointment to the Naval Academy and reported in June 1948. CAPT Lovell reported again to Pensacola for flight training in September 1952, and was designated naval aviator T-4084 on 1 February 1954. His first assignment was Composite Squadron Three (VC-3) at Moffett Field California.

Orientation is the place for incoming students to experience what college life will be like at Heidelberg University. Orientation welcomes new students to campus by introducing them to resources and fostering relationships necessary for a successful transition to university life. Students and their orientation guests learn about our academic expectations and opportunities for development both in and out of the classroom. And, students begin to make friendships for their future with Heidelberg.
