About

ELENA MARIA FARMER is a Colombian-American horn player based in Detroit, Michigan and Bowling Green, Ohio. Her passion for music, performance, and education began when she first picked up the horn in 5th grade. Since then, she has passionately devoted herself to the study and creation of music, earning a bachelor’s degree in K-12 Music Education from Central Michigan University and currently obtaining a master’s degree in Horn Performance from Bowling Green State University. Her primary teachers include Dr. Andrew Pelletier, Professor Johanna Yarbrough, Dr. Bruce Bonnell, and Maestro Gabriele Falcioni.

As a performer, Ms. Farmer has had the unique privilege to collaborate with ensembles all over the globe including the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra (SBSO), The Midland Symphony Orchestra (MSO), The Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra (PSO), and La Fiharmonie – Firenze. She recently also had the unique opportunity to perform with the BGSU Horn Club as guest artists at the 57th International Horn Symposium at James Madison University, Virginia.

Farmer strives to create an inclusive musical environment that resonates with diverse audiences, weaving personal narratives into the fabric of their artistry. As a performer, educator, and advocate for cultural expression through music, she continues to inspire others, fostering a love for music that celebrates individuality and community. Whether on stage or in the classroom, Farmer’s mission is to connect, uplift, and engage through the transformative power of music.
