Mrs. Cartwright received her Masters In Education with Reading from Heidelberg College in 2002. In 1999 she received her National Board Certification for teaching. Her experience in teaching started upon graduation from Heidelberg College in 1974. She taught in Tiffin City schools for 35 1/2 years, teaching first grade, Primary Multiage and Title 1 Reading. Although not ready to retire she made the decision in 2009 when she was asked to teach at Heidelberg University.

She is still involved in the public schools, volunteering and serving on several committees. She tutors middle school children in reading using Project MORE. She is on the board of the Humane Society of Seneca County and volunteers one morning a week at Mercy Hospital gift shop. Other interests include making jewelry and working in her yard, which was on the Tiffin Garden Tour.
