Communication Major Requirements

Heidelberg’s Communication Major and Minor, offered through the Department of Communication and Media, focuses on communication competency, helping students develop skills in critical thinking, research, writing, and interpersonal and oral communication.

The Communication Major (or Minor) is recommended for those who want to pursue graduate studies and/or careers in such fields as human resources, government relations, sales, student engagement, and customer service. In addition, a Communication Major may serve as preparation for law school or seminary.

  • COM 311: Organizational Communication
  • COM 411: Senior Seminar (capstone experience)
  • MED 102: Digital Media Toolbox
  • MED 202: Graphic Design
  • MED 351: Advertising and Public Relations Campaigns
  • MED 375: Media Law and Ethics
  • 1-3 semester hours of Practicum or Internship
