What made you choose Heidelberg and when did it start to feel like home?
The campus is really what drew me in, with both its architecture and the personal connections between students and faculty. It began to feel like home when I got involved with the cheerleading team and made friendships and connections around campus.
What moment at Heidelberg made you feel most proud to be a Student Prince?
The moment that made me feel most proud to be a Student Prince was going abroad to Italy to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation within businesses. This trip truly shaped me as an entire person and introduced me to a new perspective on the world.
What’s a class, club, or activity you joined on a whim and ended up loving?
I took a theater class that I really enjoyed, but also met one of my best friends in it!
What’s your best “only at Heidelberg” story?
Seeing deer running through campus that sits in the middle of town!
What relationship or friendship here has meant the most to you and why?
My relationship with Dr. Berg has always been marked by her treating me with respect and holding faith in me through our few years together. She has gotten to watch me grow into who I am and unknowingly inspired me to do so many of the things that I've accomplished here at Heidelberg.
What opportunity outside the classroom shaped you the most?
Being both an RA and an SRA here on campus, I've learned many crucial skills that help me both personally and professionally. I've learned great organization, time management, and leadership. I've been someone who has built a community for fellow students, and to me, that is the most rewarding gift of all.
What is a lesson from college that you will carry with you forever?
That perfection is not the key to success. There will always be obstacles, failures, and tears, but making the most of your circumstances will shape you into a stronger individual with a better understanding of your purpose.
What memory still makes you smile, no matter what?
The day that President Huntington met me and made it a priority to learn how to pronounce my name correctly. He phonetically wrote it down and, by the next week, had it memorized. This moment really encapsulates the love that surrounds this campus community and ensures that everyone is a someone.
What experience at Heidelberg best prepared you for your next step?
My daily exposure to professionals, those who have helped me become more confident, approachable, and poised in the way I speak. Heidelberg has given me so many opportunities that I could've never imagined to be possible.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen about how to be successful at Heidelberg?
Never say no, as a First-Generation college student, I learned to get comfortable with the uncomfortable. The opportunity to get involved is such a rewarding experience; you find your people, your home, and your purpose. As someone who was involved in the most random things, it's so honorable to reflect now and become overwhelmed with gratitude for my college experience.
What are your plans following graduation?
My plans following graduation are to pursue a career in either Content Writing or Human Resources.
Finally, what’s one thing you hope never changes about Heidelberg?
Its admiration and commitment to its students are what drew me in, got me through, and I hope they continue for many years to come.
