L. D. Stoner Health, Counseling & Disabilities Center
The L. D. Stoner Health, Counseling & Disabilities Center is located in Room 141 in the lower level of the Campus Center Building. Students are encouraged to use the Stoner Health Center, during the hours of operation, since non-emergency ER visits are often not covered by health insurance companies. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:15 AM -4:00 PM when classes are in session, facilities are closed Saturday and Sunday and during summer session. Walk-in clinic hours to see the nurse practitioner are Monday-Friday, 8:30-10:30 AM. Other consultation times are available by appointment. Students can call 419-448-2041 to make an appointment.
Emergency Room Services
If emergency services are needed when the Health Center is closed, the nearest emergency facility is located at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin (US 224, St. Lawrence Drive - Tiffin-Fostoria Rd.) in Tiffin, Ohio approximately two miles from the Heidelberg campus.
Heidelberg's health center contains a small formulary for prescription medications, tuberculin skin tests and immunizations. You can purchase in stock over-the-counter drugs. Non-formulary prescriptions may be filled at a local pharmacy.
Heidelberg University offers a variety of services and resources to help students succeed and, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), faculty and staff work closely with students who have documented disabilities requiring accommodation to ensure equal access to the university’s programs, activities, and services.
Free and confidential counseling services are offered to all full-time Heidelberg University students by licensed professional counselors. In individual counseling, you'll meet with a counselor to discuss concerns and learn coping strategies in a private, confidential setting. The counselor will collaborate with you to set counseling goals and evaluate your progress toward those goals. The Health Center also provides group counseling, couples counseling, and outreach programs.
The Safety & Security Department at Heidelberg University provides a safe and secure environment for all members of the Heidelberg University family, including students, faculty, staff and campus visitors. The department is staffed 24 hours a day all year round and has a close working relationship with both the Tiffin Police and Fire Departments.
The Campus Safety and Security Department’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Securing campus buildings and facilities
- Responding to any emergency on campus
- Responding to and investigate any campus fire alarm
- Registration of student, faculty and staff member parking permits
- Enforcement of campus parking regulations
- Providing student, faculty/staff escorts on campus
- Reporting and responding to campus maintenance situations
- Enforcement of Heidelberg University policies and regulations
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment for the campus community
