What made you choose Heidelberg, and when did it start to feel like home?
I chose Heidelberg to find my second home, and having family here was a good start. Heidelberg started to feel like home when I got to become who I want to be and create a family here on campus.
What moment at Heidelberg made you feel most proud to be a Student Prince?
During my second year, during the eclipse, we had the day off, and the whole campus came together on the football field to watch it, then spent the rest of the time all being together; I think it was the most alive I have ever seen the campus.
What’s a class, club, or activity you joined on a whim and ended up loving?
Something that was a kind of whim was the student alumni association. I was encouraged to join by a senior at the time, and have remained there all four years. It has given me so many opportunities and experiences that I can't count.
What’s your best “only at Heidelberg” story?
No matter what happens here, I think it's safe to say kids will be kids: either snowing and people go sledding through campus, or practically the entire campus floods and people go get boats. We will always find something to do and conquer.
What relationship or friendship here has meant the most to you and why?
I would say finding my best friend on the first day on campus, another lacrosse player with whom we've had many good times together. I know that this is a lifelong friendship even after leaving Heidelberg.
What opportunity outside the classroom shaped you the most?
Either my experiences in my clubs or organizations, most importantly being a brother and a recognized leader of Nu Sigma Alpha. I would also say my study abroad trip to Italy for the summer, living there, and traveling alone for the first time made me more confident in myself.
What is a lesson from college that you will carry with you forever?
I think a lesson that I will carry with me is that I will be okay, to have full confidence in myself, and take my next steps. Carrying this lesson will help me forever.
What memory still makes you smile, no matter what?
The day of my freshman homecoming, the entire day brings a smile to my face, being there with family and friends.
What experience at Heidelberg best prepared you for your next step?
I think the best answer is the Heidelberg experience, from running clubs and organizations to being a four-year student-athlete, and then traveling abroad. Building myself with these experiences into who I want to be.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen about how to be successful at Heidelberg?
Talk to everyone; it helps you make new friends and enrich your experience here. Talking with professors makes you stand out and receive a better education. Don't regret not talking with someone.
What are your plans following graduation?
I plan on coming back to get my MBA, after which I hope to join a federal law enforcement agency.
Finally, what’s one thing you hope never changes about Heidelberg?
The people. The people make Heidelberg what it is.
