What made you choose Heidelberg, and when did it start to feel like home?
What made me choose Heidelberg was the feeling of home. Everyone was welcoming, and I felt as if I was truly getting the education that best fit me.
What moment at Heidelberg made you feel most proud to be a Student Prince?
Growing up and being able to help the younger students come in and succeed the same way I did.
What’s a class, club, or activity you joined on a whim and ended up loving?
Being a Resident Assistant. I didn’t plan on it, and I didn’t know what to expect, but I signed up and stayed on staff for 3 years.
What’s your best “only at Heidelberg” story?
No matter what happens here, I think it's safe to say kids will be kids, either snowing and people go sledding through campus, or practically the entire campus floods and people go get boats. We will always find something to do and conquer.
What relationship or friendship here has meant the most to you and why?
Going on group trips to Walmart during a snowstorm to get sleds
What opportunity outside the classroom shaped you the most?
Being a cross-country and track runner. I learned so much about what it means and takes to be successful in and out of the classroom. I also had the opportunity to do things and meet people that I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. It also taught me the importance of having a community and time management in times of stress.
What is a lesson from college that you will carry with you forever?
The best lesson I have learned is the ability to be sociable and meet as many people as possible. This leads you to having connections in many avenues of the world and an understanding of people of different backgrounds
What memory still makes you smile, no matter what?
That first week on campus, when everyone gets to meet new people, everyone feels the same sense of joy and nervousness all at the same time.
What experience at Heidelberg best prepared you for your next step?
Simply, the classroom. I’ve had great professors who have prepared me best for what it takes to be successful in my future career.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen about how to be successful at Heidelberg?
Do as many things as you can, and put yourself out there. The things you don’t plan on could be some of the best moments of your time here.
What are your plans following graduation?
I’m planning to get my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Findlay.
Finally, what’s one thing you hope never changes about Heidelberg?
The community. People coming together to help each other in need and supporting each other throughout the process.
