More than 20 successful science alumni representing six decades returned to campus to present their research and share their experiences during the 2019 Science Celebration last weekend.
Highlighting the two-day celebration was a keynote address from Dr. Mark Peeples, ’74, a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University and the principal investigator at the Center for Vaccine & Immunity at the Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

As part of the Heidelberg University Homecoming Weekend, four of the school's top former student-athletes will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. The 2019 class -- 34th overall -- will be comprised of Tom Wynn ('91), Frank Balogh ('02), Lucas Messer ('05), and Tina Siegel Myslenski ('07).

Dr. Jeff Bricker, ’79, says he owes a great deal of his career achievements as a research scientist to the excellent foundation he received at Heidelberg from iconic professors such as Mel Casler, Dr. Ray Wise, Dr. Richard Cordell, the late Dr. Martin Reno and the late Dr. John Groce.

The dynamic father-daughter duo of Dave and Allison Krebs did a great job expressing the value of their Heidelberg experiences, although in different generations, at the annual Families & Fellows dinner on Saturday.
“I found Heidelberg through the love of my parents,” said Allison, who told the crowd of about 300 ‘Berg students and families and about 100 members of the Fellows Organization that her parents, Dave and Kim, met at Heidelberg.

Following his graduation from Heidelberg in 1963, Ernest Estep headed for The Ohio State University College of Medicine. M.D. degree in hand four years later, he ultimately returned to the Akron area to begin what would become a distinguished career as an obstetrician and gynecologist.
Now retired from Summa Health, Ernie was recently recognized not only for his career accomplishments but for a lifetime of achievement far beyond his medical practice.
