The Class of 2023 is ready to rock it. New and returning students and faculty officially kicked off the 2019-20 academic year – the 170th in Heidelberg’s history – during Opening Convocation on Thursday.
Provost Beth Schwartz began Convocation with four pieces of advice for new students: Stay focused on your goal (graduation!), find your voice and define who you are, take action by being part of a community with incredible opportunities, and find your mentor.

When she was a student at the Berg, Hannah Long-Higgins got a lot of time in front of people. She competed as a member of the Speech Team and a delegate at the Model United Nations conferences. She also performed with the improve comedy group Make A Scene.

Three distinguished alumni have joined the Board of Trustees, effective July 1. Dale Chorba, ’85, of Hinckley, Ohio, Dr. Karen Kovalow-St. John, ’79, of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Paul Stallings, ’79, of Akron, Ohio, will serve four-year terms, according to Heidelberg President Robert Huntington.

This year, we were pleased to honor Elrich “Pete” Green, ’78, with the Outstanding Alumni Award, Angie Cook with the Service Award and the Zartman-Diefenbach-Thompson Family with the Legacy Family Award.
