Orientation and Welcome Week are designed to help you get familiar with campus and the resources available here to help you succeed! It is a time where everyone is new and getting to know one another. Take advantage of the chance to make some new friends and explore ways to get involved.
Orientation is so much more than class registration and academic advising—it's your official introduction to Heidelberg! You’ll explore our campus, talk with faculty and staff, meet fellow students, and have fun getting acquainted to your new home. Whether you’re a first-year, transfer, out-of-state, international, or adult student, we have an orientation program for you. Once the enrollment fee is paid, students are able to register for an orientation session by logging into OASIS. There is no charge for students to attend.
New Student Orientation
All new students must attend an orientation day prior to arriving in the fall. There are several days throughout the summer for you to choose from: May 31, June 3, June 7, or June 17. If you are a student who is traveling a long distance, we recommend talking to your admissions counselor or calling the Office of Student Engagement to make arrangements to attend the late orientation in August so you can also move in.

Welcome Week showcases Heidelberg’s many resources for academic, personal, and professional success and features activities planned just for you, the new HU student. Welcome Week will put you on the path to success at HU by:
- Helping you engage with your classmates during the HYPE First Year Common Experience in Hocking Hills.
- Providing you with an opportunity to connect with the HU community, reconnect with your advisor, and establish meaningful relationships with students and faculty that will be the foundation for your academic and personal success throughout your college experience.
- Encouraging a first-year student identity, building independence, furthering HU pride, recognizing your individual role and responsibility as a member of the HU community, and helping you develop a sense of ownership of and accountability for your college experience.
- Allowing you to become an expert in navigating the campus while discovering the many resources available at HU. These resources meet the diverse needs of our students, and will empower you to create a successful college experience.
A tentative Welcome Week Schedule will be available in May to help you plan. Please note that these events could change; students will receive a detailed copy of the schedule at Verification.
Some Welcome Week activities and events are required for all new students. We understand that some students may have conflicts and wish to be excused from some or all programming. The Office of Student Engagement may grant exemptions to students who demonstrate conflicts that are deemed sufficient to warrant an exemption. If you can't attend a mandatory event, you must complete an exemption form, which will be available at the beginning of summer.
