Degree Options
Heidelberg offers a wide variety of options within the majors to provide you with a personalized education that fits your career goals.
• With the Bachelor of Arts degree, you can pick between traditional music and popular music.
• Within the Bachelor of Music degree, you can specialize in performance (instrumental/woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, organ, strings, or vocal), composition/theory, or music education (instrumental, piano, organ, strings, vocal)
• Within the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre degree, you can specialize in acting, musical theatre, or theatre production.
Faculty Mentoring
The most common reason students choose Heidelberg is the ability to develop impactful relationships with their professors. For a student in the arts at Heidelberg, this means working directly with professors in private lessons, receiving personal critiques in intimate classroom settings, and simply having the ability and familiarity to drop by a professor's office, sit down, and receive influential advice.
I love knowing that if I need help or support, I will always have friends and faculty by my side. From my first visit on campus, I knew Heidelberg was where I belonged.

Performance Opportunities
Heidelberg offers a variety of performance opportunities. Both our ensembles and theatre productions are open to majors and non-majors from all across campus. With such a variety to choose from, you can not only continue your passion, but also find new ways to grow, which gives you valuable experience.
I don’t have just one single experience that sticks out. What has impacted me is being allowed to experience everything I want to here.
Sam Stohlman '19
Sam has performed in every theatre production since coming to campus. He has also been a tech foreman and a member of the choir and the Hei-Notes.
Outcomes & Placement
Graduation is just the beginning. Whether they’re performing music, teaching music, or working in the music industry, our alumni are utilizing the advantages of their Heidelberg education. While our alumni experience success across the arts, our music education majors had a 100% placement rate after six months this past year.
At Heidelberg, I never felt invisible or that no one cared about my success. I truly feel that everyone, especially the music faculty, was as invested in watching me succeed as I was, and that was incredibly reassuring.
